Even with just a kitchen island, you can already make an outdoor kitchen.
An outdoor kitchen island can add a lovely atmosphere of sophistication to your outdoor kitchen.
Just because you are outside doesn’t mean you can’t have all the luxury of indoor cooking space.
If you want an outdoor space to entertain that is elegant and functional for a large group of people, then you really need to consider an island kit for outdoor use.
Outdoor BBQ Kitchen Island
Building an outdoor kitchen island is incomplete if you don’t add bbq there.
What was needed there? A building for a BBQ, and perhaps a sink, fridge, stainless doors, and drawers for storing supplies.
BBQ islands are usually made of concrete or masonry and need to be built on-site.
They are large, heavy, and not suitable for upper decks or patios where weight is an issue.
The function of Island BBQ is to take all your supplies out of the house to the island or run items back and forth as needed to cook food outdoors.
Kitchen Island Types
There are many choices to make when building your custom outdoor kitchen.
One of them is to define a kitchen island for an outdoor kitchen.
There are 3 types of kitchen islands that are commonly used, among others;
1. Basic Kitchen Island
Base Islands are typically smaller, rectangular, or oval-shaped islands that include a grill, sink, and small area for preparing food and storing supplies.
There is usually a dining area around the outside of the island.
The base island is great for occasional use and smaller groups.
The basic islands can vary widely in price, options available, and sophistication.
2. L-Shaped Kitchen Island
These islands are usually much larger than the base island and shaped like an L.
The grill is usually in the small L part of the island and the longer part of the island houses the sink, food preparation area, and outside seating area.
3. U-Shaped Central Kitchen Island
The U-Shaped Islands are usually quite large and have a grill and sink in the center of the U along with a food preparation area, and seating around the center of the island on the outside, placing the cook right in the middle of all the action.
